Rally London to Tbilisi 2007

At the suggestion of Levan Vasadze, Paddy Gillford, Roman Khomenko, Carletto O Donnell and Tully McWhirter made an intrepid journey across the European and Asian continents.

Raising money for charity was the main goal of the Rally London to Tbilisi2007. The four riders drive motorbikes from Oxford in the UK to Tbilisi in Georgia. They traveled through England, France, Belgium Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria Turkey and then finally to Georgia.

For the duration of their 3,500 mile journey they had no equipment apart from what they can carry on their motorbikes and no support crew. They main desire was to raise as much money as possible for The Duke of Edinburgh s Award International Foundation and the Hugo Rutland memorial Fund.

Roman and Paddy leaved from Cornbury Park at 8 o clock on the 2nd August, 2007. Carletto and Tully  joined them on the 5th August. Together they drive on and reached Tbilisi in Georgia on 16th August 2007.

The rally has been organised with the view to raising money for The Duke of Edinburgh`s Award International Foundation and the Hugo Rutland Memorial Fund.

The International Award is an exciting self-development programme availiable to all young people worldwide equipping them with life skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities and the world. To date over 6 million young people from over 120 countries have been motivated to undertake a variety of voluntary and challenging activities through the award.

The Hugo Rutland Memorial Fund was started last year after the tragic death of Hugo Rutland in a swimming accident. The fund, established by Hugo`s widow, Claire, and a group of friends, has been established to provide bursaries for boys whose parents could not otherwise afford an education at Radley College.

Rally London to Tbilisi  raised $20,000 for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Hugo Rutland Memorial Fund.
